The Lady In White

This movie was a sleeper back in 1988. I discovered it in the $1.00 rental bin back in the early 90's. The F/X don't really hold up to today's standards but the story is unusually good. The story takes place in the Fall and the colors are brilliant. I enjoyed the recreation of growing up in the early to mid-nineteen sixties. Are you are in the mood for a good haunting tale with a great characters and suspense?  Hunt down this movie and watch it this Halloween Season.

You put me on to this movie shortly after you saw it for the first time. It has become one of my favorites and, like you, it will be one that I watch as Halloween Draws near. It is a classic if I may say that. Good plot, great characters and just enough "BOO juice" to keep you interested.
I wish there were more of these movies...

The song that they used of Bob Crosby (Bing's brother) had such a haunting presence in the move - as if it were a character all of it's own.

I found the movie on DVD a few years ago and showed it to Katie at an age that I thought it wouldn't give her any bad dreams. She loved it.

One thing I thought about the movie is that it made you feel the season of Fall. The feeling at the first was so colorful and crisp. Reminded me of my youth during that season of my life - riding down the sidewalk as the leaves fell like snow. For a horror movie - it leaves you with a good vib.

I agree...
The school house, the cloak room. All gone and forgotten in today's world. The thrill of halloween...when it was innocent. Long before someone actually thought kids worshipped Satan on that night. It was just a fun night to participated in some things you normally wouldn't. Plus the candy thing...you got to go door to door to beg for candy..how cool was that.

I can't wait for Tyler to get a little older so I can show him this movie.
thanks again.

The story was something that Stephen King might've written - hints of The Body (AKA: Stand By me). Stand By Me - four boyhood friends going on a hiking trip to find a dead body. But the story was really more about the relationships rather than the venture. Stand By Me is a more polished telling that Lady In White - nevertheless - both capture something of that time past.
