i triple dog dare ya

A Christmas Story aired back in 1983. It was an instant classic. Unlike most comedies - it didn't have just one funny scene. This movie was funny from start to finish - a must see if you've never seen it before.

We probably watched it 4 times yesterday. Every time I would walk through the living room, somone would have the station tuned to TBS. yet, I found myself stopping to see which part of the movie was playing. It truly rekindles memories of my childhood, especially the part about standing and looking in the windows of department stores. My favorite was always the WESTERN AUTO store. They always had their windows stocked with Christmas toys.

The ground floor of Sears & Roebbuck when it was on Broad Street. That's where most of the toys were at Christmas time.

Santa Claus(Coach Owen)was sitting in a big chair in a big window facing Broad Street. Kids and parents lined up a long way.

The coming of the Gadsden Mall changed downtown Gadsden for decades. Broad Street used to be filled with retail and shoppers.

Wasn't there a Western Auto downtown Gadsden? The one that I remember was at Agricola Shopping Center. Western Auto was a great little store.
