This song is timeless.

This is one of those songs that just sticks with you. everything about it is incredible. The fact that it is played in a minor chord, which was kind of unheard of back in the 50's / 60's. That organ part in the middle.
I read where Del Shannon killed himself and there were hints that it was over his record contract and the handling of some of his other songs. He just seemed unable to break free of the song RUNAWAY and record another that was a hit.

Actually, Del Shannon had other hits after "Runaway". He also struck gold with "Hats Off To Larry", "Two Kinds Of Teardrops", and "Keep Searching". Del even continued to be popular in the UK through the 60s. What really contributed to his suicide were the side effects of prozac that he was on at the time.
